Hello! I’m Bahadır Küçük, the founder of Hekimify. The story of how I brought Hekimify to life stems from a very personal and emotional experience I had in 2023 while living in the Netherlands.

I work as a software engineer in the Netherlands. With the knowledge and expertise I’ve gained in the fields of technology and software, I strongly believe that healthcare should be more accessible and faster for everyone. However, this belief was reinforced by a health issue my 2-week-old baby experienced and the events we went through that night.

That night, at 4 a.m., we took our 2-week-old baby to the emergency room because we were deeply worried about his condition. However, the doctor dismissed it as parental anxiety and sent us back home. Without properly examining our child’s chest, the doctor only briefly listened to his neck with a stethoscope and said, “There’s nothing wrong.” In fact, before heading to the hospital, we had recorded a video of our baby’s breathing without clothes to show as evidence, but even that was disregarded.

As the night went on, my doubts grew, so I sent the same video to a doctor friend of mine. After reviewing the video, my friend said that our baby’s condition was serious and that we needed to take him to the hospital immediately. This left us in a state of immense stress, torn between the emergency doctor’s earlier dismissal and the urgency of my friend’s warning.

I quickly contacted our family doctor, shared the situation, and sent the video. The family doctor asked us to come in immediately, and after examining our baby, they referred us directly to the hospital. Upon arriving at the hospital, oxygen support was provided to our baby, and the medical team quickly mobilized. It was an incredibly emotional moment because it became clear that our baby needed urgent and serious treatment.

Our baby was diagnosed with RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) and remained under intensive care at the hospital for eight days. He was dependent on oxygen, and breast milk was fed to him via a tube inserted through his nose into his stomach. If I hadn’t sent that video to my doctor friend and taken action again, it might have been too late for everything.

This experience led me to establish Hekimify in 2024. My goal was to help people reduce the uncertainty they face in medical situations and assist them in making the right decisions at the right time. Because sometimes, a video, a second opinion, or a piece of advice can save a life.
